Lord Atchipureeswarar is also praised as Acheswarar and Achu Kondu Arulia Thevar. Lord Vinayaka is known as Achu Muri Vinayaka. The Rajagopuram is of five tier structure. Lord Srinivasa with Mother Alamelumanga Thayar graces in a shrine in Prakara.
This is a small temple with the sanctum sanctorum with one corridor-prakara. Main entrance is in northern side. The temple has no Rajagopuram. Lord Vinayaka graces in a big form from a separate shrine in the name of Peria (big) Vinayaka.
The temple is noted for its three important attributes–Murthy, Sthala and Theertha- Glory of Lord, Sacredness of the land and the spring. Mother graces facing south on the Sri Chakra Peeta. Rice is offered as nivedhana.
The temple has a three tier Rajagopuram-main tower.
Indira, the king of Devas had a boon to take to any form. His eyes fell on Akalya, wife of Maharshi Gautama. He took the form of a cock and cried near the hermitage of the Rishi indicating the dawn of the day. Rishi set out in the belief that the day is dawn. Waiting for such a chance, Indira immediately took the form of Maharsi, entered the Ashram and behaved with Akalya as Rishi himself.
Lord Vishnu and Mother Mahalakshmi were discussing about the sins and good deeds of humans and their illusions about material achievements. During the course of the talk, the subject turned on beauty, personality etc. Mother Mahalakshmi said that people become prosperous at Her very sight because She was fair in complexion and went on to irritate Lord because He was dark in colour. Lord smilingly replied that real beauty was in the mind and not in external looks which only took people to illusions. Mother did not subscribe to this theory.
